I am a Finnish native speaker with full proficiency in English and German. I have been accepted into the Proz.com certified PRO network, and I am ISO 9001 certified by OneHourTranslation, where I have a proofreader and reviewer status. I hold a BA in social sciences from Germany and Master's degrees in Liberal Studies and Urban Planning from the United States. My specific field of expertise is in academic and scientific writing, and I have translated several paper abstracts and scientific articles, many of them into my non-native English. During the last two years I have also gained significant experience in transcreating travel related material (destination descriptions, food, culture) for the travel portal momondo, a European market leader. My translation experience also includes business brochures and marketing materials, software localization, official documents and certificates (including for the EU and the UN), as well as technical texts from the workshop to the desktop, including heavy machinery and medical devices.

I first acquired substantial translation experience (EN → FI and DE → FI) while working for 4-Text GmbH in Berlin. Between 2007-9 our team completed the translation of multiple revisions of technical manuals. The assignments required extensive research into the functioning and terminology of each component of the machine, including the engine, clutches, and electrical systems. After a hiatus, I picked up translating again in 2013, and have completed over 700 freelance projects since then.
