Work Experience

Freelance Translator
Left my employment in Cork to work with translations full-time in Turin. Work extensively with the
Scandinavian languages to English as well as English to Swedish, and fairly frequently take on projects from Italian and French to my two native languages. Provide translations as well as proofreading, mostly relating to mechanical engineering, IT and medical equipment, but also various other subjects.

(January 2013 - Present)

Part-Time Freelance Translator
Worked part-time with translations between Swedish and English, as well as from Spanish to the latter, for various customers including Universitat Rovira i Virgili – Tarragona, and Simon Fraser University – Vancouver.
(September 2007 - January 2013)

Translating documents at Apple Operations Europe - Cork, Ireland
As part of my employment I translated documents regarding warranties and consumer law to be approved by the legal department. Worked from English to Swedish and the Scandinavian languages to English.

(January 2007 - July 2007)

Qualifications and Skills

Languages - Native fluency in Swedish and English, fluent Italian, high level of French. Also understand and communicate well with speakers of other Scandinavians languages due to linguistic similarities.

Computers - Plenty of experience with computers and personally run Linux, but am also well used to macOS and Windows. For translating I have mostly used Trados Studio and occasionally MemoQ and other programs. I have a basic grasp of web programming and photo/video editing, as well as CAD/CAM programs.

Other Activities

Member of Amnesty International and The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Have volunteered for various organisations and events ranging from the formation of NGO’s and cooperatives to helping out at film and music festivals. Take pleasure in the outdoors; in particular cycling, hiking, skiing, and climbing; enjoy music and literature.

For personal reasons I do not accept projects that come from companies that work directly or indirectly with the arms industry. Similarly I do not collaborate with IT companies that do not respect the privacy of others.
