I doubt, there would be companies specialising in what Thomas has called ''legal advice''. I think professional indemnity insurance should keep these vultures away.
You can Google "Abmahnung" to see what I'm talking about. It's very real. And very German. They can get you for nothing more than having a Facebook button on your site, because such a button provides information about site visitors to Facebook without consent.
I sincerely doubt any liability insurance would cover that sort of fines and expenses.

Hi all,
I'm reviving the discussion on EU 2016/679 since my accountant emailed me about it yesterday, asking if I needed help implementing it.
I've been trying to figure out what exactly this means for freelancers like us but am having a hard time finding anything concrete. I get that we're supposed to implement systems and internal audits, as described here: https://blog.detectify.com/2016/07/20/general-data-protection-regulation-what-it-means-for-your-business/ but there seem to be no actual definitions for the terms used (processing being pretty vague), as was discussed previously.
The only personal data I really have is that given to me by a few clients who are natural persons for billing (aside from content in documents being translated). I have no true "databases", just a series of invoices with their info. Does that count as "processing"? And considering they are the ones who gave me the personal data so I can send them an invoice, it seems like that would constitute consent, but maybe I'm wrong.
The one other thing that I'm trying to understand is how this relates to the invoices I send to my accountant at the end of the year. Are we to start blacking out the personal data on forms sent to accountants?
How are is everyone adopting these new regulations? Thanks in advance! K ▲ Collapse
