Just wanted to let the community know that I have been contacted by a new member (December 2017) who deleted his/her profile after having sent the following email:

After having been in direct contact, and researching IP address as well as the company behind this person, I have reason to believe that this is the start of a scam, where proz.com is used as a starting point of "confidence".
When consulting the sender's profile on proz.com, this is the message received:

Voor andere zelfstandige vertalers / tolken, gaat u naar Hoofdpagina van ProZ.com

Other members having been contacted in the same or a similar way could advise us more.
After further research, the IP address of the sender is located in France, and points to an organisation concerning bitcoins. Maybe the attached file from the sender (a word document) tries to use our computers for bitcoin mining.

I can't speak Dutch, sorry, but also received this same request in English (I googled the sender's email address and found this thread). Looks like a scam as the sender has no valid profile on ProZ. The profile picture is also - er - a little strange.

Het rare was dat er geen linkje onderaan de mail was om spam bij ProZ.com te melden, zoals gewoonlijk het geval is.

Googled the telephoned number and is in Virginia, USA. The Licence ID stated for the corp. is valid and in fact there is an actual Christina Lynn Thomas broker in Carlsbad,CA, USA.

Altijd goed te weten dat men niet alleen als sul op dit soort aanbiedingen ingaat.
Had het forum nog niet bezocht.
Enig idee hoe proz.com por-actief tegen dit soort Spam kan ingaan?
