Sorry, but this is not true. Here is what I get when I start the Heartsome .exe on a Windows 8 setup in which Java is not installed:

There is no \jre\bin\javaw.exe in my Heartsome 8.1 package. I needed to download and install the JRE from java.com in order to be able to start Heartsome. I'm using the 64 bit Heartsome Ultimate package for Windows.

I re-installed Java (downloaded from java.com, ie. Oracle) and I was able to start Heartsome again:

I had to install the 64 bit version of Java, as I'm using the 64 bit version of Heartsome.

how to draw those red boxes? Jan 6, 2013

Hi Dominique,

Sorry for sidetracking, but may I ask which program you use to draw those nice red boxes with arrows? From time to time, I receive online validation assignments that require me to report any linguistic issues I found. The ones you created seem to be perfect for this kind of assignments.

Thank you in advance for the information.

BTW, the download link for the JRE included version is:

And the link for non-JRE version is:

I downloaded the package from the download page, ie. http://www.heartsome.net/EN/downloads.html

That package didn't include JRE when I downloaded it. As I said, it was not a problem for me, because I know where to get Java

Good to know it's now possible to download packages with and without JRE.

For the attention of Chun-yi: the solution I use for taking snapshots, annotating them and uploading them is Jing, from Techsmith. It's free and available for both Windows and Mac. Highly recommended!

Thank you for much for the information, Dominique! Jan 7, 2013

And it's good to know that there are still free software programs that do a good job.

I shall not go off the topic any longer. Thanks again.
