Interpreting rates
Mar 4, 2020
Normally rates are per full day (around €500) or half day (€300). Interpreting for an hour is not worth it since one has to travel to the venue and it will usually take almost 3 hours all in all, so nearly a half day. Now, interpreting for an hour is around €80. All this from my own experience.

About $65/h -- $1000/h

Karen, which one: whisper, elbow, consecutive, simultaneous or what? Rates vary. Specialization is quite costy, especially a business conference is often $750+/hour.
Also don't forget about travelling/transportation, hotel, dinning, and other expenses.

Scottish rates
Mar 4, 2020
Hi Karen,
In Scotland, interpreting through an agency usually pays £15-£19 per hour (higher rate for court/complex). Some agencies pay travel time, some don't, and with others it varies from job to job.
Interpreting directly for a law firm pays the standard Legal Aid rate of £30 per hour.
I don't know about business interpreting rates, but I do legal interpreting for a lot of agencies in Scotland, and a few legal firms.
Yours, Karen
