I\'m having problems with Word since I installed MetaTexis (full version): it\'s painfully slow, comes up with error messages (can\'t find files), and keeps crashing (illegal operation message which can\'t be got rid of, but program won\'t close down). I\'m fairly inept with software; is there anything simple I can try to remedy the problem? I\'ve run Norton WinDoctor, it didn\'t help.

1) Before you install MetaTexis for the first time you must install Microsoft\'s Data Access Components (MDAC) service pack version 2.6 SP1 (= 2.61). Very often the MDAC components are also called ActiveX Data Objects or ADO

1) Before you install MetaTexis for the first time you must install Microsoft\'s Data Access Components (MDAC) service pack version 2.6 SP1 (= 2.61). Very often the MDAC components are also called ActiveX Data Objects or ADO



Microsoft\'s ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) are a part of Microsoft Windows. MetaTexis uses ADO to access databases. Unfortunately, different versions of ADO are shipped with different versions of Windows. To make sure that MetaTexis runs smoothly on all systems ADO 2.6 has to be installed..



You cannot install an older or newer version of MDAC, instead. You have to install this very version 2.61.



You have to install MDAC 2.61 only once. When you want to install an update or upgrade of MetaTexis you do not need to install ADO 2.61 again.



Please download MDAC 2.61 at this Internet address: http://www.microsoft.com/data/download_26sp1.htm (ca 5.2 MBytes) (Go to the bottom of the page, choose your language and click on the Go to download button.)



2) If you need to speed up the MetaTexis functions because you have a slow system, activate \"normal view\" in the Microsoft Word® View menu.



3) If MetaTexis does not run smoothly, or if you encounter any other problems (especially so-called \"automation errors\"), close Microsoft Word® and re-start it. If MetaTexis still does not run smoothly, contact MetaTexis support at [email protected].

PS: I have no problems with the program(Windows XP and Windows XP Professional)

Many thanks for your help & advice. I\'ll try the things you suggest, although I think I should have the correct ADO (being a bit dim, I followed the instructions exactly).
