When trying to clean some translated word documents, Trados answer (txt file) there is an error without any other details, how could I proceed to clean despite that ?

It happen with Trados sometime.
You can use Word's macros.
Press Alt+F8, in opened list find macros tw4winClean.Main and start one. It's very reliable method.

Convert the txt file to .doc file and try again

This issue was discussed very often before - use Word-Macro Jan 27, 2004

Open your file in Word.
Press ALT+F8. This opens a list of macros.
Select tw4winClean.Main and let it run.
Your file will be cleaned within seconds.
The only limitation: this does not automatically clean headers and footers and text boxes, so they need to be selected manually and cleaned in the same way manualle.

Be aware, that cleaning in this way DOES NOT update your TM, so you should update all changed segments by opening and closing them in Word with new ... See more

This type of error is often due to damaged tags as a result of manual corrections. That's why it's recommended to either open segments for post-translation editing, or to display hidden text when editing, to avoid inadvertently damaging Trados tags.
