Why am I not able to see the Trados bar in a document after installation? Thread poster: Konstantinos Karanikas B.Sc. Electr. Eng., MITI

Hi, all I would appreciate a bit of help on this one. I have installed the Trados 6 software on my second PC, which is away from base. After installation I also connected the dongle. However, when I open a document for translation there is no Trados bar. Going to View>Toolbars ... did not help either since Trados is missing from there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Konstantinos, That just happened to me when I upgraded from Office 2000 to Office XP - I was greatly helped with the following solution but I am not totatlly sure it applies to you, I have Trados 5.5, but perhaps it is worth a try or a look anyway: Localize the Start-up folder found (in XP) in C: Documents and Settings-Administrator-Application Data-Microsoft-Word-Start-up If you are not sure where it is check its localization in Word - tools - options -... It is the file Trados5 that provides the toolbar. Hopefully yours is just called Trados6 so you can easily find it. Hope it helps. Hi Konstantinos, It's Office 2003 by the way. AFAIK support for Office 2003 was introduced with Trados 6.5. This illustrates why we keep asking for full details with every query... Best regards, Ralf

Hi! If you haven't already resolved your problem, try this one: In the taskbar of your Word document choose "tools" and then "Templates and Add-ins". You should now see a window with a subfolder called "templates". There the Trados check box should be selected. If it's not, activate the check box and click on OK. You should now see the Trados toolbar. Have a nice weekend! Nina P.S. The names of the folders might be slightly different fro... See more Hi! The names of the folders might be slightly different from those I mentioned as I have a German operating system and I am not exactly sure what the English terms are. ▲ Collapse | | | Am I not a lucky fellow !!! | Jul 18, 2004 |
