Word files not opening in Trados

Hi

I have received two doc files from a regular customer and cannot get
them to work with Trados.

I am using a TM I haven't used for a while but checked and other files open with it.

The first file was "read only" but I changed the title a bit.

I tried converting one to an rtf file.

I checked if they were protected - they weren't.

They had a very unusual font. I changed it to Arial - still no luck.

My customer is in Europe (I'm in Australia) and their offices won't be open for another six hours.

I use Trados 5.5 Freelance, Windows 2000 and Word 97.

Any suggestions warmly welcomed.
