I am trying to analyse three Powerpoint files in Trados Workspace. The files are in the Target files folder, I have associated a translation memory, the task is running, but all I get is an analyse with 0 matches and": "unable to analyse file NAME.ppt" in the log file. Any help appreciated!

Moving the thread... Oct 1, 2004

...to Trados support.

Can you please indicate which Trados version you're using (exact version please, including the build number)?

Thanks, Ralf

Don't think it's possible to analyse PPT using T5.5 Oct 1, 2004

Hi again, Georgina,
IIRC it isn't possible to analyse Powerpoint files in T5.5 - T6.5 can do that, but that's because TagEditor 6.5 can handle this format.

What you could do is to extract the text - using T-Window for Powerpoint - and save it as RTF, which you can analyse.

Note that you don't necessarily need Workspace to analyse files - I admit I gave up using Workspace after 1 1/2 projects...

Best regards,
Ralf

Use T-Window Oct 1, 2004

Hello,

you can export the text of the Powerpoint files woth T-Wndow into an txt file.

Open the txt file with word and save it as rtf file.

After this you can analyse the rtf file.

But note, that there are maybe embedded objects in the powerpoint files where the text will not exported by the text Extraction of T-Window

Hans

P.S.: Ralf: oh, don't see your answer.

Dear Ralf and Hans,

thanks so much for your answer. I tried it, and it worked!

Georgina

P.S.: I am not a real fan of Workspace myself....

Workspace and Update Oct 1, 2004

Hello,

maybe you should make an Upodate to the new version. With the new version you can translate the Powerpoint files in TagEditor and there are a lot of improvements from 5.5 to 6.55.

Since version 6, the Workspace was removed from the Trados suite

With kind regards

Hans

Maybe an update is a good idea then. I do not that often work with Trados, and I hardly ever use Workspace. Thanks again for your help!

Best regards,

Georgina
