Dear all,

I have exported a TM from workbench in TMX.
The exportation has been finished successfully (tmx = 3,7 MB) but I can't import it into swordfish which displays "imported 0 segment".

Thanks for help.
Carole

Do you get error messages that the TMX file is invalid when trying to import?

Also, makes sure that the language codes of the TM you created in Swordfish are the same as in the TMX file exported from Workbench.

Regards,

Piotr

no message erroe Feb 20, 2012

Dear Piotr,

Thank you very much for answering.

No, I have no error messages when importing. Just as usual except I have "O segment imported".
Indeed this is not the first time I encounter this problem when importing a TMX file.

How can I check the language codes? And if not the same, is there any solution?

Again, thank you very much.
Carole

Checking language odes Feb 20, 2012

Open the TMX file in Notepad or another text editor which supports unicode and look for text like:

Code:

header
creationtool="TRADOS Translator's Workbench for Windows"
creationtoolversion="Edition 8 Build 835"
segtype="sentence"
o-tmf="TW4Win 2.0 Format"
adminlan... See more

segtype="sentence"
o-tmf="TW4Win 2.0 Format"
adminlang="EN-US"
srclang="EN-US"

srclang shows you the language code.

and when you scroll past the prop type="RTFFontTable"

you will see the real units.

and in tuv xml:lang="PL" you will see the target language code, which in your case will of course be different than PL.

In Swordfish select similar language codes, for example en-US and pl . Swordfish should recognize your units from the TMX file.

Thank you very much Feb 20, 2012

Dear Piotr,

Thank you very much for your answer and availability.

Indeed I have managed to import the TM thanks to the TMX validator - cleaner (an item was invalid).
Hence I have imported the reference TM successfully (tonight).

Dear Piotr,

Thank you very much for your answer and availability.

Indeed I have managed to import the TM thanks to the TMX validator - cleaner (an item was invalid).
Hence I have imported the reference TM successfully (tonight).

Your information concerning the language code may be useful to know as well.

I have resigned myself to translate with trados this morning (the project being urgent). My translation finished, I have imported my new TM from Trados to Swordfish, and when I open a copy of the source file I had to translate (just to check if it works), I cannot access to the TM data.
The contextual search does not work while this is the TM I have created myself and written in all day long. I should have perfect match for each segment.

I guess I do something wrong but I don't know what.
Best regards,

Carole

Language codes Feb 20, 2012

Make sure you use the same language codes in your XLIFF file and your database.

Segmented TTX file Feb 20, 2012

And if you imported a pretranslated (segmented) TTX file, automatic TM lookup will be blocked until you use the command "Clear all translations". You need not fear that your translations will be lost, they are preserved in the TM matches pane.

Piotr

Where is the "Clear all translations" function? Feb 21, 2012

Thank you both for helping me.

The language codes match each other, this is fine. Yet I can't find the "clear all translations function".
Is it the equivalent to "remove all translations" in Task menu? - because of the pre-translated TTX.

Best regards,
Carole
