I am a first-time user of XMT Cloud. My client has opted to go with this system.
Having read the instructions, the comments on various forums and having started (the first 50 segements) translating a lengthy (but relatively simple) piece of work, I have decided (rightly?) that the best thing for me to do is translate it using SDL Studio 2011 and copy and paste into each XMT Cloud segment.

Not efficient I know, but the available TM is patchy, I have no term base or auto-propagation and using XMT alone is slow, slow, slow. I feel like Fred Flintstone at a typewriter.
I was able to download the xliff file from the Cloud. I translated a few segments in SDL and tried to upload it, but XMT does not like it.
Is there any way I can translate this file in SDL but still get in back to my client in a format they can use with their new system? Or am I destined to copy and paste the night away? ▲ Collapse

Hello Conor,
We know that some of our clients are using XTM just to generate XLIFF file. The actual translation is done in some external tool. XLIFF format is the only possibility in XTM do do off-line translation.
This is a step-by-step example, how such process should look like:
1. Create project in XTM using any of supported file formats.
2. Go to project menu --> Files tab and generate XLIFF file.

4. Translate your file using external tool.
5. Save your target file (.xlf extension have to be maintained)
6. In XTM go to --> Project menu --> workflow tab --> open context menu for a single file --> update XLIFF
If you receive any kind of error while uploading XLIFF file back to XTM, please write directly on

We will check everything, tell you what is wrong and help you in uploading your file.

I will see if the client actually can work with a delivery of the xliff file rather than a translation made using their system directly. If so, your info will be very useful.

In general each customer created in XTM has two databases, which he can manage:
- Terminology database
- TM database
Databases can be managed from different XTM tabs or via XTM editor.
Terminology is very similar to a two way dictionary. When you import or add term to XTM terminology and create project which contains word existing in terminology, that word will be highlighted with blue.
