In quality control there is often - admittedly not always - some possibility of adjusting somewhere, i.e. 'controlling' the further process to prevent further rejects. Here there is probably no point in swimming against the current.

At the final inspection it tends to be too late, and I try to keep the distinction.

I appreciate the input but if one does a search on Google for quality assurance and quality control there are some three million (ok slight exageration) hits - I resisted the use of control for a long time for the same reasons sited, it seems like a "Norwegianism" but usage does show that the word is used as such in this type of context.
