In calibration of gas detecting equipment certain specific gas mixtures are used: zero gas and span gas.
So what are zero and span in swedish in this context?

zero gas: a purified gas that has an impurity concentration below the minimum detection limit of the analytical instrument
span gas: a special gas mixture to calibrate and test gas detection equipment ensuring correct readings

agree  Nils Andersson: Utom att jag skulle skriva "kaliberingsgas". I vilket fall är en självförklarande term bättre än en som kräver djup branchkännedom - jag har aldrig hört talas om spänngas.

  -> OK, kalibreringsgas får flera träffar, är nog att föredra i skrift, där det kortare är det som används muntligt. Som kuriosa är att kalibreringsgas finns med i IATE också.
