half of a living male human body Explanation: Yes, confusing, and probably meant to be. It's meant to be a mystery and should be revealed later in the story. This is science fiction. Normally, they scan for life signs, meaning that this is not a corpse, but half of a living man. The explanation to this is unknown and makes the story intriguing. So, what could the explanation be? It could turn out to be a dwarf, a small boy, a seriously injured person with lost limbs, a person who is half man, half machine in the sense that he has robotic arms and legs or in the sense that he is an android. It could be a person who is half way inside the space ship, half way outside or about to be beamed on board having 50% of his body on board when the scan is done. As said, the explanation should come later in the story, but it means exactly what it says; half a man (and probably alive). |
