Ob befruchtet, unbefruchtet, Eizelle, Embryo, vor oder nach der Einnistung scheint mir hier nicht relevant zu sein. Der Text weist auf das Risiko für das möglicherweise entstehende Kind hin. Dann erst kommen doch Beeinträchtigungen zum Tragen, oder? Vernünftige Belege für den meiner Meinung nach fürchterlichen Ausdruck "potenzielles Kind" habe ich nicht gefunden, außer in Foren für Laien und schlechten Übersetzungen.
@ Olaf: Ich finde beide Deiner Lösungen ok, mit einem gewissen Vorzug für die erste. Damit ist doch alles gesagt, was ausgedrückt werden soll.

An egg, frozen in liquid nitrogen, may be considered to be a prospective child; but before implantation it's hardly an "ungeborene Kind".
