bracket hook
Explanation:
If you haven't gotten further late on a Fri nite, here's a suggestion. The picture is the right one in any case. This designation may be less generic than many other possibilities (tool hanger hook), but still ... There is a Swe 'AJ Products' site too, which calls this a bygelkrok!

pliers hook

Explanation:
<http://www.bygghemma.se/inomhus/inredning/garageforvaring/hy... is a Swedish Elfa site showing a "bygelkrok för tång, sekatör mm"(Artnr. 479270)

<http://uk.elfa.com/site/en/gbr/products/add-on-garage-and-st... is a British Elfa site showing the same device(art. no 479270)and namng it as a "pliers hook'.

As it can be used for other tools, you may wish to use the more generic "tool holder" depending on the context, but I've got one in workshop and call it a "pliers hook"!

Example sentence(s):
  • This pliers hook can also take secateurs and small garden shears.

Asker: Thanks for your answer, Michael. I think the term may actually be used incorrectly in the Swedish. I should have provided more context in my original post, but the term is used in relation to the fixing of lighting to the ceiling, so I don't think that "pliers hook" really fits here. Thank you for a really in-depth answer none the less.

Asker: I'll go for this as it is quite a broad term, but I do need to clarify the use of the term in Swedish with the client (see the explanation I made to Michael's post)
