cross appeal


Explanation:
For the benefit of this generation and future ones, I'm providing this alternative to the answer that was chosen quite some time ago.

I've never heard of an "associated appeal" before tonight. But lots of lawyers and judges have argued or decided a "cross appeal" over the years.

From Black's Law Dictionary: "Cross appeal. An appeal by the appellee. In the [U.S.] federal courts a cross appeal is argued with the initial appeal of the appellant."
