"Det begrepet som best dekker norsk "stevning" er sannsynligvis "notice of proceedings", som brukes i Australia og New Zealand, men ikke i USA eller England."

You will travel long and far before you find a better solution to this. I quit a long time ago, thanks to the purchase of this dictionary nonpareil.

Not an originating a.k.a. construction summons, as that refers only to a
a request to the judge to interpret a legal doc. or even translation.

Assumed that there is neither any private criminal prosecution, nor subequent 'statements of case' (pleadings) issued.

NB it's EN Common law: British would include Scotland where, incidentally, notice of proceedings would start off an eviction from land process.
