Norwegian term or phrase: utdanning som gir graden siviløkonom
Actually it is part of the sentence in a diploma saying XY har fullført utdanning som gir graden siviløkonom referring to the degree. I understand everything, except the word "gir" in this context. Can you help, please?

Masters in Business Administration

Explanation:
Siviløkonom (siv.øk.)
"Degree and title obtained after 4 years of undergraduate study in economics"
This is the official term from the directorate of education, for whom I helped create the Norwegian-English education dictionary ten years ago.

"Civil Economist" is one of those terms that has disappeared over time, as the American Bachelors and Masters degrees took over Europe...
"Master of Economics" is also seen, but I think it has different studies/qualifications, and most schools prefer MBA, as a rule.

degree course in Economics and Business Administration

Explanation:
I would ignore 'gir' in the translation. I was also tempted to omit 'course' in my answer but think it gets across the sense of the process of education, rather than just 'degree', which may only refer to the qualification.
