A marja' (مرجع) is the highest rank given to a Shia cleric, while the marjaiya (مرجعية) is a Shia religious body.

I would translate مرجع ديني as "religious authority." It seems like each مرجع or has his own مرجعية, or clerical following. See the use of marja and marjaiya here:

Also, note that (some?) marjas are also sometimes referred to as Grand Ayatollahs:

There are also a lot of English sources that leave مرجع untranslated, italicizing "marja'"

Actually, if you translate marja, you should write "supreme religious authority" or "highest religious authority" (as Ahmed mentioned) in order to distinguish marjas from lower-lever clergy.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you dear Fazal How do you suggest to translate Marja' or "مرجع ديني" ?

Asker: Thank you dear for your help. Those title are pretty hard to translate as it's open to discussion. Just like "حجة الاسلام" and "أية الله".
