Arabic to English translations [Non-PRO] Social Sciences - Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc. / human services
Arabic term or phrase:eihab
this is the name of a social service agency being used as an acronym (empowering, instructing, habilitation, assisting and bettering) however I wonder if it has another meaning perhaps. Thank you.
You are really having fun!!! To be honest, me too. However since I have to meet a deadline, I quit here and leave Dana to try to guess the meaning by herself :-))
We'll just have to look em up; Nancy, "A city in northeastern France in Lorraine" and Pascal, "French mathematician and philosopher and Jansenist; invented an adding machine; contributed (with Fermat) to the theory of probability (1623-1662)", :-)
ايهاب جلد : والياء زائده http://www.alhandasa.net/forum/archive/index.php/t-7830.html لا تنسي أن تخبري زملائك أن الأسماء لا تعلل وكما سمعت أن المراد من هذه العبارة أي لا يعلل سبب تسميتها لا كما يفهم الكثير لا يعلل معناها والله أعلم شكرا لتفهمكم
You are right dear peer. Just wanted to make a point that if does not exis امهات المعاجم it does not mean that it has no meaning. We provided what is commonly understood. If next somebody ask meaning of نانسي or باسكال what then? تحياتي
Hi Aljoubry. Saleh did his part when he provided material justifying his disagreement. I do not think he has to give an answer. Maybe it's just a name that doesn't really mean anything. Maybe it's from Turkish or Farsi.
Yes I have seen that. But the name is إيهاب not إهاب and I have two colleagues in my office who would get very upset to see their names changed to إهاب :-))
Dear Saleh, I have to admit that I wrote my own understanding of the name without doing thorough research as you did. However, after all your research I see that you have not proposed an answer!! So what is the meaning of Ihab then?
However, إهاب means the skin of the animal before taning it as indicated in Al-Mukhasas by Ibn Seedah Al-Andalusi. I am going to insert the entry of Wahaba from Lisaan Al-Arab to dispell any doubt that you have: ( وهب ) في أَسماءِ اللّه تعالى الوَهَّابُ
I searched more than one hundred reference in Arabic languageto find that إيهاب or إهاب is an inflection of وهب or means giving, bestowal, giving gift, granting or anything like this but the results unfortunately were zero.
