It depends on the context and how you read it there.


Explanation:
You can translate the word التيار to "current," "stream," "movement," "trend," "tide," and many other similar terms. They all pretty much convey the same notion. Since the sentence is about a rise, the word "tide" may be most suitable, but that is just qa personal preference.

The real problem is with the word الإسلامي

If the context is about a shift towards greater personal adherence to Islamic values and practices, then the adjective "Islamic" will be most appropriate.

However, if the context is about a shift towards Islam as an ideology, i.e., the establishment of theocracies and state-enforced laws based on Islamic notions, then the word you are looking for is "Islamist."

So take a careful look at your context to determine the appropriate adjective.
