in Berket El-Mouz District/Jurisdiction Explanation: بنيابة ربما تعني بولاية أو محافظة -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 37 mins (2007-01-17 18:39:17 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Please read this phrase (بإحدى نيابات الولاية (بركة الموز)) in the following link. It means that they have sub classes of الولايات to include نيابة. http://www.nizwa.com/volume14/p9_16.html In this website (http://www.omanet.om/english/regions/wusta1.asp?cat=reg) they mention governerates, regions, districts ... etc -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 38 mins (2007-01-17 18:40:16 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- On the same website, they say: The Sultanate of Oman is divided into four governorates - Muscat, Dhofar, Musandam and Al Buraimi with five regions-- i.e. there are eight administrative regions: Muscat; Dhofar; Musandam; Al Buraimi; Al Batinah; A'Dakhliyah; Al Sharqiya; A'Dhahira; Al Wusta; Each of these is subdivided into smaller districts called wilayats, which are governed by the wali, the person responsible for the area who reports to the Ministry of the Interior. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 40 mins (2007-01-17 18:42:40 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- They use the word 'Niyabat' to refer to نيابة as in: Wadi Al Mu’aidan dam New dams include Wadi al Mu’aidan groundwater recharge dam in Nizwa, 6km below the Niyabat of Birkat Al Mawz. This dam will improve and develop the area’s water resources. The dam is 3,365 metres long, has a maximum height of 10.2 metres and a capacity of around 2.5 million cubic metres. http://www.omanet.om/english/oman2002/utilities.asp Good luck -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 42 mins (2007-01-17 18:44:27 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Here it is in a singular form. Wadi Shab lies in Niyabat Tiwi, Wilayat of Sur, is 76 km from Qurayyat. It is easy to reach this wadi from the Qurayyat-Sur highway. The wadi combines the attractions of coast areas and inland wonders. It has at least seven pools of shimmering emerald green water studded beautiful boulders. One of the pools is in a cave where light streams in dramatically from above and there are fantastic echoes as you swim and splash. http://www.omanet.om/english/tourism/eco/wadis.asp |
