Dear liz, many thanks. In the end I used "christening a hall".
Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks, liz. I actually found this myself, but I cannot see how it fits in: The hall christening? It's on a list of publicity advantages for sponsors of an international IT exhibition.

name / NAMING

Explanation:
One of the important things for a sponsor is to ahve his name added to an event or place:

e.g. the Porsche Jazz Festival, the Cacaolat Championship, the Jupiler Cup, the Google room, etc. This way they baptize an event or place.

agree  Berni Armstrong: I'd have translated this: "The possibility of naming a hall" - "Christen" has too many cultural specific overtones to be used widely in a multicultural world.
