宋代裝裱趨於成熟,形成了特定的格式,變成一種程式化工藝。南宋周密《齊東野語》:“其裝裱裁制,各有尺度,印識標題,具有成式。”就立軸而言,是中國書畫裝裱的最常見式樣,至遲在北宋宣和時即已形成日後的定制。中稱畫心(又名畫身、蕊子),上稱天頭,下稱地腳,上下又有隔水,上裝天杆,下裝軸,有的天頭貼驚燕帶(一名綬帶)。


Interested to know why the centre of a painting is called 蕊子....except of course I know that the 'stamen' (ruizi) is at the centre of a flower, so it must be a kind of simile.

Is the term still in common usage?

Anyone know the historical reasons for it?
