smoke on the water Explanation: 水烟 --1.水上的烟霭。 Three classical poems used this phrase as follows: 南朝 梁简文帝 《登烽火楼》诗:“水烟浮岸起,遥禽逐雾征。” 唐 岑参 《江行夜宿龙吼滩》诗:“水烟晴吐月,山火夜烧云。” 前蜀 李珣 《南乡子》词之七:“沙月静,水烟轻。芰荷香里。” I would like to suggest the translation as follow: like smoke on the water Reference: http://cidian.911cha.com/cGJ6NA==.html |

like fog Explanation: 冬去春来{似水烟},流年不复返 with the arrival of the spring following the winter, like the fog dissipating, drifted are the years beyond the point of return. It is difficult to just translate a couple of words as a good translation must make the rhyme and syllables fit, among other considerations. Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissipating |
