Hmm, I read the whole thing again and again, and came to think your interpretation actually makes sense, although I can't be sure the other one is wrong. (I do know I need more sleep :D )

I believe you should have a better understanding (than us) of how these four characters should be interpreted based on the CONTEXT. The term "hypothetical factor" is also commonly used in factor analysis.

I am not familiar with these test but it does seem to me cluster analysis is very similar to factor analysis, as you suspected. :-)

The number of factors to be included into the model depends on the factor loadings and the interpretation of the analyst. Sometimes some factors are subsequently excluded from the analysis if the factor loadings are too small.

I am not familiar with cluster analysis, though I believe it is similiar to factor analysis in some aspects. For factor analysis, all the VARIABLES that may affect the model are included into the analysis. The FACTORS are only created AFTER the analysis.

This I can't agree. One set of data was arbitrarily used as reference for comparison purpose in this assay. That was not an assumption. This test basically included all the factors (假定因子) that possibly affect the parameters of interests, and then determined which ones are real factors that do affect the outcome based on the coefficient and P values.

If you agree with the sentence structure 假定...., 表中的系数和P 值即为..., you should use "assume" instead of "assumed."

I personally think "assumed factor" is not commonly used in statistical analysis. I believe "hypothetical factor" or "proposed factor" may be more frequently used in statistics such as factor analysis.

If you really want to treat these four Chinese characters as one holistic concept, you may try "hypothetical factor", though I personally believe these four characters should be parsed into two units.

I agree.
I tried "presumed factor", "assumed factor", "hypothesized factor", "supposed factor", "suppositive factor", "suppositional factor" and "postulated factor", but nothing really hit in combination with "cluster analysis". I mean you would see "hypothesized factor structure" or things like that, but not really "hypothesized factor" itself.
I think my brain is quitting.

"假定" should be treated as a verb whilst " 因子" should be treated as a noun.
