Chinese term or phrase: soul mate
I'm looking for a word or phrase that means someone i love. Not just love, but like my one true love, the person i was destined to be with. The one the gods hand picked, for me and me alone. If i could have the actual symbol or character or whatever, that would be great. This is for a tattoo. Thanks a bunch.

English translation:挚爱

The chinese characters are:挚爱. The word is consisted of two characters: the first one 挚,means "true, honest, deep, heartful", the second one 爱, means" love". The word means the true love, the one you love heartfully. BTW, it is written in Chinese PINYIN: zhi4 ai4.

Generally,in English-Chinese dictionaries, mostly you can find "soul mate" is translated in two words: 1. 情人, Qing2 ren2, which just means "lover" . 2. 密友, Mi4 you3, which means the closest friend who shares your secret. The first one is not so specific a translation for " soul mate".

Some might translate " soul mate" into the other phrases, such as:
灵魂之爱,ling2 hun2 zhi1 ai4, though literally " soul love", it is more spiritually oriented, but not enough worldly love oriented.

But at the same time, my translation as I stated here is yet not the exact match of your word. But I just can't figure out if there is any better one yet. Wait to see other peers' opinions.

抦壒

Explanation:
I have chosen zhi4yin1 because there was a famous mainland Chinese film called zhi4yin1. Since a movie of this title came out, it has been adopted throughout mainland China as the standard translation for "soul mate". This is the closest that I can come.

怱娞

Explanation:
The Pinyin (Chinese transliteration of "怱娞" is xingan.

"xin" means "heart"
"gan" means "liver"

The two characters combine to mean a person who is very much loved. The expression is used as a term of endearment.

yours is not a good choice

Explanation:
I hope you haven't made the tatoo, for your choice is not a good one. 挚爱 doesn't connote what is conveyed by "soul mate".
