Indeed in English law it is called Section and subsection, e.g. Section 1 subsection (1)(a)(i) abbreviated to s. - there are also paragraphs and schedules e.g. paragraph 1(2)(d) or (e) of Schedule 1 to the Children Act 1989. There are also 'Parts'.
In US code there are Titles, Chapters and, wait for it, ... '§' e.g.

Therefore for the sake of simplicity I always use the EU format, whether for legislation or for contracts/treaties, etc., unless specifically referring to a piece of UK or US legislation, in which case I use the format that is employed in the respective country.
