hilar markings Explanation: “Later there was accentuation of the hilar shadows and bronchovascular markings with irregular emphysema, increased hilar markings atelectasis and pneumonia in the terminal stages” http://www.cfmedicine.com/history/topics/x-rays.htm -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2019-05-01 14:11:12 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Here’s a good explanation of hilar markings (the “kresba” is the pattern made, for example, by veins, hence you’ll also find “pattern”): “This commonly refers to the blood vessels, predominantly arteries and veins, that enter and leave the root of the lung. While the entry point is quite small they fan out rapidly as they divide. The first several generations only are visible on a standard chest x-ray before they become too small to be seen. This gives rise to the characteristic fan pattern seen in the central chest.” https://www.quora.com/What-are-hilar-markings |
