agree  John Newton (X): All responses correct, just need putting into context. The main question remains: why is Mr Kratzer, a pro translator colleague, asking these questions, which have nothing to do with science, but rather with absolutely elementary Czech?

  -> As the Kudoz etiquette says: always assume good faith. Sometimes the problem is not so much with the source language as with expressing the meaning in the target language. People also get tired, have blind spots, all kinds of things.
