This is what I had found, as well. In an Internet search, Development Engineer seemed to bring up mostly Danish sites. Anyway, it is what I went with. Thank you!

  -> well, they design the construction of the machines with regard to mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics and electronics. The name of our department is R & D, but the people here are called construction engineers.
