Danish term or phrase: sidde løst i stolen
Imidlertid har du til formiddag hørt et rygte om, at økonomidirektøren og den administrerende direktør ikke taler sammen, og at økonomidirektøren sidder noget løst i stolen.

feeling his days are numbered

Explanation:
Again, no exact idiom. Danish is originally "sidde løst i sadlen" (http://ordnet.dk/ddo/ordbog?query=sidde&search=Søg)
How about something along the lines of: "The Financial Director must be feeling his days are numbered." ?
I also thought of "shaking in his boots" but that's a bit strong in the context.

agree  Charles Ek: I'd need more context to concur with the "feeling" part, but otherwise I like this slightly stronger suggestion over the other (i.e., the one offered by Christine), simply because it's office gossip that is apparently involved here.

agree  Pernille Chapman: But I'm not sure "feeling" is required here - the person in question might not be aware that they are at risk of losing their job.
