Danish term or phrase: indkøring
"Instruktion bestod overvejende af hjælp til indtastning af de første køer ved indkøring af malkestald/AMS/karrusel i egen stald."

Is 'indkøring' referring to "starting up the milking parlor' or 'driving the cows into the barn?"

driving

Explanation:
I agree with your suggestion that you normally drive the cows into the milking shed/AMS/carousel and then they walk into their own stalls to be milked. Barn is normally what the cows sleep in, not what they are milked in unless using a bucket.

The cows normally are kind of pushed into a yard behind the milking shed or carousel (driven), but once there, they walk into the stalls themselves because they know they are going to be free once they are milked. New cows need to be broken in (they kick and make a fuss) before they assume this behaviour.

The cows serial numbers or names need to be recorded so the farmer knows which has been milked and how much each cow produced. The ones getting low on milk are monitored so they can have another calf if necessary. This is also needed to record how much of each type of cows milk (Jersey or otherwise), because it effects the sweetness of the milk.

That's how my Uncle milks the cows. He has a milking shed and a carousel. I don't know what an AMS is.

The milking parlor or milking shed is normally started up before the first cows get there. If you wait for the first cows it is too late they will get impatient while you start everything up. You do not normally know which cows will be first. So the cows walk into their own stall and you record them (indtastning).
