in hiding Explanation: Archaic language for 'secretly', 'in hiding'. It should be spelled in two words in Danish 'i løn'. The same words are used in Grundtvig's *Et barn er født i Bethlehem' (... en fattig jomfru sad i løn ...). -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 12 hrs (2009-11-22 22:45:28 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Apparently the poem is a translation of Shelleys 'To the queen of my heart': http://www.recmusic.org/lieder/get_text.html?TextId=51641 The English text and the Danish translation both support the idea of secrecy. The ODS reference has an example of 'iløn' in one word in Shakespeare, so this is not an error as I first thought: http://ordnet.dk/ods/opslag?id=497534 Reference: http://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%B8n Reference: http://www.dendanskesalmebogonline.dk/salme/104 |
