Danish term or phrase: opspændende øvelser
This is part of a text that describes various exercises that you can do to improve your connection with your body. The term appears frequently and I will include an example below, but first here is the author's explanation of what it means:

"... betyder at lave øvelser hvor man spænder op (spænder i) musklerne, og dermed øger den sensoriske sansning af musklen. Så fokus er ikke på at tone eller stramme musklerne op, men at man spænder dem og dermed mærker dem."

Example: "Når du laver opspændende øvelser vækker du dine muskler, både fordi energitilførslen til dem øges, og fordi nervefor-bindelserne stimuleres"

I am really not sure what this would be in English. Any help would be much appreciated.

squeezing exercises

Explanation:
You need to incorporate the part about waking up the muscle, so I would suggest something like:

Squeeze and hold the muscle tight and notice how the chi (or: energy) starts to flow.

They talk a lot about that here (chi being energitilførsel) - the sense when your muscle 'wakes up'.

Good luck!

Exercises to improve active/conscious muscular engagement/control

Explanation:
The phrase "opspaendende oevelser" (please excuse my keyboard without the extra Danish vowels handy) refers to the act of actively and consciously engaging muscle tissue in contraction. Any of the terms: contracting, tensioning, squeezing or engaging could be used in context to describe this action.

Example sentence(s):
  • The "glute squeeze" exercise was one of five rehabilitation exercises to improve conscious muscular engagement/control
