tamp = rope end, splidsning(splejsning) = splicing Explanation: "tamp" is the Danish expression for the end of a rope. It's a technical term and is mainly used by seamen and sailors. "Tamp" can also mean a big strapping fellow, but I gather it's not used so much anymore as it used to be. "Splidsning" is an old form of "splejsning" It means joining by splicing (of ropes, cables, wires etc.) Example sentence(s):
