polka dot puffs Explanation: polka dot puffs? ´Bomber´ on fabrics are spotted patterns, often polka dots. I always think ´bomber´ sound drastic as a pattern for baby clothes! - It was one of the earliest expressions I learnt from my mother in law, who ran a weaving shop and knew a lot about fabrics. http://www.stofgiganten.dk/prikker/0 I think this means a velour fabric with a spotted pattern, which has been processed to make the dots stand out as little puffs, as in powder-puffs. (Velour is knitted, velvet is woven.) At least that is how I picture it. |
