In de publicatiestukken van een aannemingsbedrijf staat de volgende zin onder het kopje 'Garantieverplichtingen':
Doeltaal: Brits Engels

'De voorziening [garantieverplichtingen] valt in principe vrij na het tiende jaar, doch in verband met overloop en eventuele nakomende kosten valt het restant van de voorziening vrij ten gunste van het resultaat in het 12e jaar nadat deze is gevormd.'

ik heb dit vooralsnog als volgt vertaald:
'The provision will in principle be released after the 10th year, but in connection with the carry-over of funds and possible subsequent expenses the rest of the provision will be released and credited to the result in the 12th year after it was formed.'
Mijn vraag is: is er misschien een gangbare vertaling van ''vrijvallen ten gunste van het resultaat", of misschien een vertaling met minder woorden ...

Absolutely sure about this, which explains my use of the highest confidence level for a change :-)

Basically, this is short for 'released and recognised in the income statement section of the P&L statement'.

agree  Kitty Brussaard: More specifically, 'ten gunste van het resultaat brengen/boeken' or 'vrijvallen ten gunste van het resultaat' = recognise in / be released to the income statement (i.e. the income statement section of the P&L account). See also the answer I've posted.
