Dutch term or phrase: Modelage
I received a repord card from an art and fashion design academy in Belgium.
The report card has been translated into English and I'd like to check if the English translation is correct.

I found the term 'Modelage' in the Durch source (listed under Opleidingsprogramma) and I would like to know what this means. Help much appreciated!

I hope I provided enough context.

English translation:model making
Explanation:
A bit of a guess, but perhaps 'model making' comes close(st) to 'modelage'. It seems at least a standard/core subject on fashion design courses.

neutral  Kitty Brussaard: In the context of fashion, 'modeling' usually refers to the occupation of fashion models ... Probably not what's meant here :-)

-> You're absolutely right :-) After checking the number of Google hits for both 'modeling' and 'model making' in relation to fashion design (courses), 'model making' seemed the most likely candidate :-)

Draping

Explanation:
My hunch is that modelage means draping the fabric directly onto the body or dummy, i.e., a three-dimensional way of designing as opposed to working with two-dimensional drawings or patterns.

I am not sure but the websites below seem to support that.

agree  Textpertise: I would tend to agree with this suggestion. Everything to do with adjusting a garment in the process of being designed or manufactured to a dressmaker's dummy or a human model. The job of a draper is a recognised field in the fashion industry.
