Dutch term or phrase: inleveropdracht
as in:

disagree  Jessica Burlacu: Not all "assignments" are assigned for grading purposes. For example, optional homework or "assignments" vs. mandatory homework or "assignments."

agree  Peter Simon: That's the name, whether for grading or not, optional or mandatory. The original explains grading separately, doesn't name it to be compulsory, Imho, jbinkpen is splitting hairs unnecessarily.

agree  Greg Irving (X): I agree. In this context is work that should be handed in later (we used to call it homework)

disagree  Textpertise: Not all assignments have to be handed in. See discussion entry

agree  philgoddard: The Dutch uses the word a large number of times, so you can't keep saying "hand-in". And the second sentence says they have to be handed in each week.
13 hrs

agree  Tina Vonhof (X): 'Written assignment' the first time and then just 'assignment'. That it must be handed in is self-evident.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks, this will work nicely for my heading, and I will probably just use "assignment" for the other instances in my text.

Asker: Thanks TextNed! Your option is also included in the glossary entry, but since Eleneora was first, I felt it was fair to select her answer.
