Well, "Chinese gambler" is shorter but confusing. A gokchinees ius definitely someone accepting bets, but not as better himself. By the way, what is "charming" about gokchinees??

neutral  writeaway: we have no idea what this is about in reality. nothing has been explained

agree  Steven Segaert: This reference is right. Sounds to me like going to someone who can make sure the bet will be a right one (instead of just going to a Chinese bookie to place a bet).

agree  writeaway: with bookie, a Chookie? sounds like a game of 'let's invent a language'. why ever would the term have to be cutesy-poo? /some bookies also try to arrange it so things go as they want....

disagree  David Walker (X): This does not refer to a bookie but to a match fixer

-> I'm not altogether convinced that every Chinese bookie is per definition a match fixer, although some clearly are. We need more context to be absolutely sure about this.
