Dutch term or phrase: we hebben vaak aan een half woord genoeg.
Two colleagues (company X and supplier) have worked with each other for years on various projects.

We kennen elkaar inmiddels van haver tot gort en hebben vaak aan een half woord genoeg.

The right phrase is escaping me... 'we can almost finish each other's sentences' sounds a bit - well - intimate!

Ah yes, knew there was a set phrase hovering somewhere in the recesses of my brain. I prefer no. 2, too. Thanks.

agree  AllisonK (X): I like your second option better - first option should be 'mind' in the singular methinks........:)

agree  Agnes Douwes: Also prefer second option. But even your suggestion of "we can almost finish each other's sentences" could be OK for colleagues.
