Sheet Explanation: In the days of yore, it meant the number of the parchment or paper roll. Later it meant that the document was written on each side (page) of the sheet. :-) The same system was practiced in Russia. In copies written on one page of the sheet, they kept the roll numbering. Later "rolls" came to be numbered in the original single-side pages too, esp. those claimed officialness, like yours. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2014-07-12 19:02:57 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Oops.
