speaker's notes Explanation: I think this quite simply refers to the so-called speaker's notes which can be added to a PowerPoint presentation (at the bottom of individual slides). Both the (printed version of the) speaker's notes and the PPT presentation seem to have been lodged as pleadings in this case. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 4 hrs (2015-02-03 13:53:09 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- But then again, I'm not so sure about this anymore now I've seen Michael's reference entry :-) |

speaking notes Explanation: Based on my research presented in the Reference comments & Discussion entries, I think "spreekaantekeningen" should probably be translated as "speaking notes". I think it relates to written notes to help a person state their case during a comparitie (appearance). sorry, taalswitch: "memorie van grieven = uiteenzetting van de bezwaren die appellant heeft tegen het vonnis van de rechter in eerste aanleg." (http://www.juridischewoorden.nl/juridische-betekenis.php?tit...

An unintended and unfortunate side effect of the growth in written advocacy (written opening and closing submissions and “speaking notes”, as well as skeleton arguments) has been that too many practitioners, at increased cost to their clients and diminishing assistance to the court, burden their opponents and the court with written briefs."
