English translation: post mortem findings

Dutch term or phrase: sectiebeeld
Als wij aan de hand van het sectiebeeld concluderen dat mycoplasma een serieuze rol speelt gaan wij over tot bloedafname.

As "sectie" can be translated as "necropsy" or "dissection" I was wondering how to decide which of these it is. This refers to the process carried out to determine whether or not to vaccinate pigs. This is first determined through clinical examination, how frequently the cough occurs and how chronic it is, I was considering translating the phrase above as

If we conclude from necropsy that mycoplasma has played a serious role, we proceed with blood tests

I don't think the word "picture" is necessary here as it is not a usual phrase such as clinical picture etc.

I would love to hear your thoughts. Please bear in mind this is a subtitling project so can't be too wordy!!

See my discussion entry. Nowadays veterinary medicine is more and more approximating human medicine and I would not rule out the use of sophisticated equipment in diagnosing livestock.

I have translated a whole textbook on biomedical imaging and scans in nuclear medicine and had a highly laudatory approval from the agency registered on my WWA on Proz. Please believe me when I say that the Dutch word "sectie" is used for section in CT and other scanning techniques. I cannot give you excerpts from texts I have translated which are privileged. However, the following are a couple of examples found on Google:

etc. etc. Try googling the two words Tomografie and Sectie together and see what you come up with.

In light of the discussion, SECTION IMAGE will do nicely for captioning. Although I am sure that, in the 21st century, the farmer is not going to kill the pig and do an autopsy, this solution gets round the ambiguity.

agree  Barend van Zadelhoff: well I arrived at "findings on necropsy", possibly you noticed this, and I am fully convinced this is about an autopsy, possibly of animals that have died, in order to use this information for further action / post mortem possibly is the UK term
