Explanation:
Borrowing from Harry -- presumably a small circuit board with a sensor for an infrared (IR) data link. The 'digitale aansluiting' would simply be the connector for connection to the main unit.

neutral  Harry Borsje: Unlikely, as that would be a typical 'non-user-serviceable part' inside the unit - it's a consumer survey...

  -> Several game consoles and the like have accessory IR receiver modules that can be plugged into the main unit. Of course, whether someone in NL or BE would call such a module a 'plaatje' is a good question.
