Dutch term

op streek geslepen korrel

Dutch to English Tech/Engineering Metallurgy / Casting
This refers to stainless steel for indoor use (in lifts). The background is a technical specification for lift renovation, so there is not much else to go on. It states that the stainless steel must have an "op streek geslepen korrel van minimaal 220." I know that steel can have a crystalline structure and that this will affect the polished surface, but does anyone have a good translation for this phrase? TIA

unidirectional brushed finish, grit...

I think that's what this means:

'op streep' = in a given direction (linear)
'geslepen'= ground and/or polished
'korrel' = grit size of the final grinding or polishing step

The specified grit size (200) that proobably corresponds to what is called a 'brushed finish', based on the following extract from a table in the reference listed below:

BS EN Finish Description Typical Grit
1G or 2G Ground Grit 120
1J or 2J Brushed - Unidirectional 180
1J or 2J Dull Polished – Unidirectional 240
1K or 2K Satin polished – Unidirectional 320
1P or 2P Bright polished – Non-Directional with a high degree of image clarity 600
1P or 2P Mirror Finish – Non-Directional with a very high degree of image clarity 800

That should read \'With the specified grit size, that probably corresponds...\'

And further apologies for apparently pasting the table twice.
